Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 29, 2024, to flip and groove at the Jam N Skate Arts Fest from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Jumping off in the City of Plainfield, New Jersey, a skate-friendly place with a state-of-the-art skate park, this free summer festival at the Madison Avenue Skatepark is open to everyone. The originally designed skate park is set in a vibrant, urban oasis in downtown Plainfield, within two blocks of public transportation at the NJ Transit Plainfield Station. Hosted by Grand Artistry Inspires, Inc., in partnership with the City of Plainfield, the festival fuses fun entertainment for the entire family with an array of services that help families live well.

For the second year in a row, a lineup of remarkably skilled skaters and artists will showcase their unique talent at the Jam N Skate Arts Fest to promote physical activity and creativity. The visionary leader of this one-of-a-kind festival, Esira Castillo, who also has the distinction of being an incredible performing artist believes “all individuals deserve to achieve their best health.”  In fact, last year, “335 individuals connected to tangible resources like food, clothing, and health services through participation in my organization’s large-scale, high-impact arts event”. Ms. Castillo’s passion and love for community are intricately woven into the fabric of this festival, as shown by the care placed in every event detail.

Attendees will experience over 200 performers, gain access to nearly 20 health and social service agencies, and shop from more than 10 retail and food vendors. Signature performances from the Plainfield High School Marching Band and Grand Artistry Productions, are sure to thrill audiences of all ages. New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties, the Boys and Girls Club of Union County, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, and the Plainfield YMCA are just some of the organizations participating in the Jam N Skate Arts Fest.

Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, a steadfast advocate for promoting healthy recreation in the City of Plainfield and offering options to its diverse community, was instrumental in the creation of the Madison Avenue Skatepark nearly a decade ago. Remarking on the event he said, “The festival is a vibrant tapestry of creativity and inclusivity, featuring entertaining and inspired stage performances by young talents, and skateboarding contests open to all skill levels. This event exemplifies the power of community unity, celebration, and the arts. It not only strengthens family bonds but also connects residents with essential services in a dynamic and engaging environment.”

You do not want to miss this unparalleled outdoor festival featuring live murals, arts and crafts, soul line dance sessions, and much more! The Jam N Skate Arts Fest will not be held rain or shine. It is best to keep in mind that the event’s rain date is scheduled for July 13, 2024.
